STRAWBERRY FRENCH TOAST BAKE RECIPE WITH HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY SAUCE

 Strawberry French Toast Casserole Bake with layers of cream cheese and homemade strawberry sauce, is a perfect breakfast casserole for the morning.

Breakfast casseroles are also awesome to serve on holiday mornings and for potlucks. 

STRAWBERRY FRENCH TOAST BAKE

Before you get started on this deliciously rich breakfast morning casserole, you should note that its layered and the recipe is written as such in hopes to avoid any confusion on what ingredients go with what.



INGREDIENTS

1 loaf, 16 oz, Italian bread, cut into 1" cubes

1-1/2 packages cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2-1/4 cups milk

1 lb of fresh strawberries for the french toast, cut into small bite sized pieces

10 eggs

1/3 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cinnamon

10 MINUTE STRAWBERRY SAUCE

1 cup water

1 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 lb fresh strawberries


INSTRUCTIONS

STRAWBERRY FRENCH TOAST BAKE

Preheat oven to 350.

Grease a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Cut Italian bread into 1" cubes and place half of the cubes into the bottom of the pan. Reserve remainder of cubes. 

STRAWBERRY CASSEROLE CREAM CHEESE LAYER

Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar and 1/4 cup milk together and beat well with a mixer.

Spoon dollops of cream cheese on top of the bread in casserole dish.

Sprinkle with pieces of Strawberries and top with remaining bread cubes.

FRENCH TOAST MIXTURE RECIPE

In a separate bowl, add all eggs, 2 cups milk, sugar, vanilla, ground cinnamon and beat well.

Pour french toast mixture over bread.

OVEN BAKE STRAWBERRY CASSEROLE

Bake strawberry french toast casserole covered with foil for 30 minutes.

Remove foil and discard.

Continue to bake uncovered casserole for 20-25 minutes, until completely cooked and heated through. The center should be set.

Remove casserole from oven and let stand.

HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY SAUCE DIRECTIONS

Add water, sugar and cornstarch to a sauce pan.

Heat over medium high heat until boiling.

Continue to boil sugar mixture for 3-4 minutes.

Add cut up strawberries and reduce heat to medium low.

Continue to heat strawberries and sugar, stirring  mixture occasionally until thick and red, about 10-12 minutes.

Spoon Strawberry Sauce on top of french toast casserole and serve while hot.
